Knowing how to take care of oneself through proper diet and exercise is essential in maintaining the well-being of an individual. To reinforce the promotion of the HDI Core Value: LIVE, Compensation and Benefits team of HDI Resource organized a wellness talk in cooperation with the partner healthcare provider, Etiqa Life and General Assurance Inc. (formerly Asian Life). The event was held at the AVR room on May 30, 2019.
Two speakers graced the event with their talk on Lifestyle Diseases and Fit and Fab. The first topic was discussed by Dr. Joseph Julius Cuebellas, M.D, R.N an accredited doctor from Etiqa Life and General Assurance Philippines. He shared the top 5 deadly diseases among Filipino people such as 1) Hypertension 2) Diabetes 3) Pulmonary Diseases 4) Kidney Diseases and 5) Cancer. Another topic on wellness, Fit and Fab topic was explained by JAILAH V. BAMBA, RND, Nutritionist of Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc. She shared the composition of Food Pyramid (Go, Glow and Grow Foods), the right amount of calories intake, the significance of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, water and exercise in our body.
These wellness talks in the workplace will increase the employees’ awareness on how to stay healthy through exercise and proper diet. Having a healthy and active lifestyle help employees not only subdue stress, lessen absenteeism and increase productivity, but also reduce risk to acquire chronic diseases like heart diseases or cancer and increase positive interaction with others.
